A Brief Explanation of Hypnotherapy As your therapist, I will guide you into a deep state of relaxation through guided imagery and age regression, to get to the source of your deep-seated issues. These individualized sessions and further work on your own listening to the CD that I will record for you during your session, will enable you to enter a state of deep relaxation on your own, at your own pace. You will learn to access your personal strengths, and begin the process of healing yourself from the core of your being. Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy is used in three main ways:
Effective Uses of Hypnotherapy Hypnotherapy can be used effectively to help you overcome the following issues:
Myths & Misconceptions about Hypnotherapy Some people understandably have fears and misconceptions about unfamiliar and innovative new therapeutic techniques in healing. Theatrical hypnotists who comman people to cluck like chickens, bark like dogs, and do other silly things give the public an incorrect impression, because they cause people to believe their minds can be "controlled" by another person. This is absolutely untrue. In hypnosis, you are in a heightened state of concentration and relaxation, very similar to a meditative state of mind. You will not do anything or say anything that is against your morals or character, and you will not reveal any secrets that you wish not to reveal. Frequently Asked Questions:
The state of hypnosis is a very relaxed state and some people do feel as though they will fall asleep. But during our hypnotherapy session, I will be talking with you and asking you questions, we will be interacting. Because we will be interacting during your session, it will prevent you from falling asleep.
You will find that you have complete control over what you say and what you are doing during your session. There is absolutely nothing to fear in that regard.
Actually, people actually hypnotize themselves every day. Driving long distances, reading a good book, watching television, and even exercising can put a person into a dream-like, trance state. Have you ever been driving in a car on the highway, and suddenly realized that your exit is upon you? That's basically the same as being under hypnosis. Time passes quickly during a session, and an hour and half session will seem to pass in the blink of an eye!
People feel so relaxed, comfortable, and peaceful during their trance state, that they don't want to come out of it. When they learn that they themselves can put themselves back into the same relaxed state, they are eager to come out to share what they have learned about themselves. There is no chance that you won't come out of your hypnotherapeutic state.
People generally live approximately 90% of their day in their subconscious mind, and only 10% in their conscious mind. Picture your mind as a glacier, where only a tip of it remains above the water. The tip is the conscious mind. The other major portion of the mind is submerged beneath the water, like a glacier. The large portion that is submerged is the subconscious, and the tip is the conscious. The subconscious mind influences our behaviors and actions significantly, but we are very unaware of its workings on a day to day basis.
It's not really that you don't know what's in your own mind. Let me explain it this way: Often, some of my clients come to me who are plagued with negative self-talk and negative beliefs about themselves. When I point those things out to them, they are usually surprised that they are actually so negative about themselves. Thoughts become words, and words become actions, which eventually become a person's personal beliefs about themselves. These negative thoughts act as hypnotic suggestions to ourselves, and those negative hypnotic suggestions (beliefs) are stored in our subconscious minds. They go from thoughts to actual beliefs about ourselves. Take, for instance, the person who tells him or herself pretty regularly something like this: "Gosh, I'm so stupid! How could I have done something like that?" That thought, "I am so stupid!" becomes a belief that is stored in that person's subconscious mind. Therefore, that person begins to ACT AS IF he or she is stupid! During a hypnotherapy session, you and I will work together to find the source of the negative beliefs that are stored within your subconscious and we will extinguish those beliefs one by one, replacing them with new, fresh, and positive beliefs. You will then continue your work at home, with the CD that I make for you with your new positive beliefs about yourself. Enjoy the process, because it is ultimately our personal journey on Life's path that really makes an impact, not the intentional destination. "Try not to become a person of success, but rather a person of value." ~ Albert Einstein
