"The physician must be experienced in many things, but assuredly in rubbing … for rubbing can bind a joint that is too loose, and loosen a joint that is too rigid ..."  – Hippocrates

IMPORTANT NOTE: Immediately following a massage, it is recommended that you drink plenty of water to facilitate the removal of toxins and waste products from your body's tissues.

Sometimes, the day following a therapeutic massage, especially if the massage is of a medical nature, (trigger point therapy, deep tissue, myofascial, etc.) you may feel muscular soreness, as though you worked out in a gym. This is completely normal, especially if you have not had massage on a regular basis. Within a day or two, you will feel 100% better!

DID YOU KNOW ...

  • Regular therapeutic massage boosts your immune system responses?

  •  Lowers your blood pressure?

  •  Facilitates the circulation of your blood and body fluids?

  • Increases the production of serotonin, a natural chemical in our brains?

  • Mimimizes depression and anxiety?

  • Increases your body's ability to heal itself?

  • Eases your worries and phobias?

  • Relieves everyday stress and tension?

  • Relieves chronic pain without the use of chemicals?

  • Gives you a general overall sense of well being?

  • Makes you feel like a million?

  • And so much more?

There are numerous benefits to incorporating massage into your life. Even one massage session per month is better than none at all. If you are feeling overstressed and overworked, it's the right thing to do for your body, your mind, and your spirit!

The human body is very much like an automobile, in that our bodies must have regular "tune-ups" to continue to function properly, and in balance and harmony. Although preventative medicine, and therapeutic massage specifically, is not currently encouraged by most insurance companies, or even by some health care practitioners, the term "therapeutic massage" has risen high above the class of "alternative therapies" over the last ten years.

The terms "masseur" and "masseuse" are words of the past, as each state has regulated massage therapy, and every state in the nation now requires coursework, contact hours, and CEU's (continuing education units) for the professional and licensed massage therapist.

High standards of practice for Licensed Massage Therapists are met through most state-regulated licensing boards, and all LMT's are required to be professional members of a professional regulatory organization, that stresses good ethics and supreme business practices. I have been a professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association since 2001.

Following is a list of some of the services I offer at "A MUCH KNEADED BREAK"

Hynossage/Hypno-Reiki! This is a massage or a Reiki session that you will not soon forget! We will begin the session by getting a health history, and then I will induct you into a deep trance state, where your subconscious mind will be free of all interruptions, such as the everyday "chattering" of Life! While in the trance state, we will discuss areas of your body that require pain release and healing. This massage gets to the core of the issues in half the time that conventional massage therapy takes. I highly recommend that you indulge yourself today!

2 hours: $150.00

Chair Massage Party! I'll bring my massage chair, products, and the workshop of your choice (ask me for a list) and you provide the space, refreshments, and guests! I'll provide the wellness workshop (usually around 45 minutes to 1 hour), music, and chair massages! Make it a healthy-theme party for you and your friends & family! Come on! Let's party healthy and well!

If you are planning on getting married, may I suggest that this is a wonderful (and $$ cost-effective $$) gift for your entire wedding party! Also, it is an excellent alternative to a traditional birthday party for a young adult or adult!

We can be creative! Call today to book your Chair Massage Party!

4 hours: $300.00

Swedish Massage - Gentle, thorough, and ultimately relaxing. This massage is considered "full body", which means it includes upper and lower limbs, hands and feet, head, face, neck, back and abdomen (at the client's request). This is a complete relaxation massage for those who are seeking stress reduction and who want to feel wonderfully relaxed, rejuvenated, and renewed!

50 Minutes: $75.00   1/2 hour: $40.00   1 1/2 hours: $95.00

Deep Tissue - This is similar to Swedish technique, except that significantly more pressure is applied. Your muscles will be manipulated and kneaded much more deeply than is done with a relaxing Swedish massage. This type of treatment is usually indicated for chronic aches, pains, and muscular pathologies; where other therapies are not. A balm or oil that is highly recommended in the use of deep tissue massage will also be applied. You may always expect muscle soreness and/or muscle fatigue the day after and remember to drink LOTS of water immediately following your treatment.

50 Minutes: $85.00    1/2 hour: $55.00    1 1/2 hours: $115.00

Aromatherapy - After a brief consultation between you and I, where I will ask you some medical history questions, you will decide what your goal is for the hour. For example, relaxation, rejuvenation, being nurtured and/or pampered, etc. The aromatherapy oils that I use are all natural and will be conducive to the goals you choose to achieve during your session. This is an incredibly SCENT-sational session! Treat yourself like royalty!

50 Minutes: $85.00  1/2 hour: $55.00  1 1/2 hours: $115.00

Roman Stone Massage - Indulge yourself in one of the most popular and effective massages I provide. This massage is done with smooth basalt stones that are heated to just the right temperature, dipped in palm oil, and massaged deeply into your muscle tissues. This is an extremely deep and penetrating massage. But it is also relaxing,  and the results last longer than the conventional Swedish massage. Roman Stone Massage is well worth the time, and every penny that you spend! IMPORTANT NOTE: You may almost always have muscular soreness following this massage, as it is deep, penetrating heat. But the rewards and benefits are exemplary!

CAUTION: Roman Stone Massage is NOT recommended for people with hypertension (elevated blood pressure) or for pregnant women.

(Price includes set-up fee and time it takes to heat up the stones. This massage is only offered for one and one-half to 2 hours! That's about how long it will last.)

1 1/2 - 2 hours: $135.00

Neuromuscular Therapy - Do you have a specific old (or new) injury that continually flares up, causing chronic pain? Have you been told that nothing short of surgery will ease the chronic pain you endure? Are you in fear of becoming addicted to the pain killers and muscle relaxants you have been prescribed? Do you suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome?

Neuromuscular therapy is a specific type of medically based massage therapy. I was required to take courses beyond massage school for this type of massage. During treatment, I will utilize the trigger point manuals written by Janet Travell, M.D. These manuals are key in helping me locate and understand the source of your chronic pain.

You and I will examine the manuals together, and I will find the trigger points, tight bands, and tender spots in specific areas of your muscles responsible for the chronic pain. I will teach you to treat yourself with an "S" bar or a Thera-cane,  so you will eventually be able to treat yourself. My goal is to teach you to treat yourself, with gentle effective chemical free methods of pain relief. You will no longer need to rely on any one method, pain medication, or person to help relieve the pain for you. YOU will be in control.

Neuromuscular Therapy is extremely effective and very much worth your time and willingness to learn. This type of program consists of a specific number of sessions with me each week, until you have learned the techniques that will allow you to take control of your recovery and healing process, and help you to be virtually pain free for LIFE.

You will feel confident to handle and ease your own pain without the use of medications, which only to serve to mask the pain, not treat the symptoms. More importantly, you will be an active participant in your own recovery process, which is the first step to becoming PAIN FREE!

Fees will vary, depending upon your individualized course of treatment, and the time it takes to learn the techniques that will put YOU in charge of your health!

Initial Assessment: $175.00 (Takes up to 2 hours and includes a comprehensive medical history, assessment of body alignment and source of pain, and your first treatment)

"Mommy-to-Be" Massage - IMPORTANT NOTE: During the first trimester of pregnancy, massage is not recommended! This massage is recommended for women who have passed through the first trimester with ease. Pregnancy is such an exciting time for women and exposing yourself (and your baby!) to the multiple benefits of massage during the gestation period is the ultimate gift - to both you and your unborn baby!

Our bodies change drastically during pregnancy and require special care and nurturing more than ever! This massage is generally a superficial relaxation massage, with the benefits of easing low back pain and helping you to experience a general sense of well being ... all over! I have been trained to work safely and effectively with pregnant women, and to facilitate that wonderful feeling of well-being and relaxation. This massage is a definite must for a pregnant woman! (Ask about my Labor & Delivery Massage Services!)

50 Minutes: $75.00  1/2 hour: $40.00  1 1/2 hours: $95.00

Mommy & Baby Massage - Every body needs to be kneaded - even little bodies! This is a most gentle, non-invasive massage that will facilitate lesser incidence of colic for infants PLUS all the other benefits that come with regular massage.

Your infant is guaranteed to sleep better, eat better, and feel better! I will teach you to gently and safely massage your infant, so you can massage your baby whenever you want to.

Infants need to be touched, nurtured, and loved: infant massage is a gentle, relaxing way to provide the nurturing your infant requires for healthy, normal growth and development: physically, mentally and emotionally.

A full two-hour session for Mommy and Baby: $125.00

Sports Massage - Invigorating sports massage is just what the doctor ordered for your overworked, pumped up muscles! Prior to an event, an athlete works his or her body to achieve maximum results. A sports massage will facilitate ease of movement and decrease muscle soreness. During vigorous exercise, a person's body goes through many changes, including the build up of lactic acid in the muscles. An invigorating, deep tissue type sports massage is definitely what the athlete requires to feel his or her best before or after an event, after working his or her muscles to their maximum potential. This massage is recommended for any and all athletes! Very effective with body builders, too! Call for an appointment today!

50 Minutes: $85.00  1/2 hour: $50.00  1 1/2 hours: $115.00

Reiki Energy Sessions and Shiatsu Sessions:

Both Reiki and Shiatsu are non-invasive, gentle energetic body work that work with the energy systems in our bodies. I like to incorporate crystals and other forms of healing techniques into my Reiki sessions. If you prefer that I don't use any other tools, please let me know prior to our session. Reiki is a hands-free type of Universal energy that permeates the body to the cellular level. You can read more about Reiki here.

Shiatsu is energy based body work in which the practitioner works with the meridians in your body, using acupressure. The meridians are pathways for the distribution of chi, or energy in your body. Each meridians corresponds with specific organs and/or endocrine glands, and can get blocked over time. With gentle acupressure, using my thumbs, palms, or fingers, I can work those blockages out and the result will be you feeling better than ever! Depending on your individualized goal and what you tell me in our brief consultation and overview of your medical history, I will work on specific meridians to achieve a centered, well-balanced result for you.
