Hello! My name is Sandra and I've been a Certified Addictions Professional (CAP) since 1990. I have worked in the field of addictions since 1986 at various treatment centers here in Southern Florida, including Wayside House, ARC, The Family, and The Beachcomber.
I obtained my Bachelor's degree in social work at Florida Atlantic University in 1995, and then went on to obtain my Master's degree at Barry University in Miami in 1998. I became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for the state of Florida in 2006.
In November 2007, I attended a six-day certification training for Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy in Ft. Lauderdale, with certification from The Wellness Institute in Issaquah, Washington. The training was one of the most comprehensive I've ever attended, and has changed the course of my personal and professional life.
I combine a didactic and psychodynamic approach in therapy, and I also individualize therapy according to my client's needs. I believe that what works for one person may not work for someone else. I feel it's important to individualize the therapeutic process, according each person's needs.
I have experience in treating various issues, including depression and other psychiatric illnesses, as well as trauma and sexual abuse. My passion is working with people with addictions. I also work with families, co-dependency issues, and HIV clients.
